¡Pousada Rumo dos Ventos: El Paraíso Brasileño que Debes Descubrir AHORA!

¡Ay, Dios mío! Let me tell you, ¡Pousada Rumo dos Ventos: El Paraíso Brasileño que Debes Descubrir AHORA!… it's like, the name alone already promises something HUGE, right? And honestly? It almost delivers. Okay, not almost. It mostly delivers. Look, nobody's perfect, not even those breezy Brazilians. But from the moment you arrive, you're kinda like, "Whoa. Okay. This is… something." Let's dive in, shall we? And yes, I'm going to be brutally honest – and probably a little scattered, just like my suitcase after a flight.

Accessibility - Let's Start with the Basics (and the Hiccups!)

Okay, so, Accessibility. This is where things get a little tricky. The website is pretty clear (well, hopefully, depending on how much Portuguese you know… or how good your translation app is) about facilities for disabled guests. There’s mention of it! But the devil's in the details, and, ay, los detalles! I didn’t personally need full accessibility, but I did notice a few things. The elevator is a lifesaver, especially if you score a room high up. Car park [on-site] is a plus, 'cause finding parking in paradise is a nightmare (more on the car later, and how I almost lost it). Facilities for disabled guests are listed, but I didn't see enough specifics to give it a rave review. Really, before you book, call and grill them! You know, ask: "are the pool ramps actually ramp ramps, or more aesthetic inclines?"

Cleanliness and Safety – Feeling Safe… Mostly

This is where Rumo dos Ventos really shines. I’m talking Anti-viral cleaning products, Daily disinfection in common areas, Professional-grade sanitizing services, and a whole host of other things that made me feel like I was walking into a sterile operating room… in the best possible way. They've definitely gone all-in with the safety protocols. Staff trained in safety protocol – check. Hand sanitizer everywhere – check. Rooms sanitized between stays – BIG check. I mean, they’re practically throwing hand sanitizer in your face when you walk in the door (kidding… mostly). They had Room sanitization opt-out available, which, as someone who’s a little… obsessive about germs, gave me a warm fuzzy feeling. First aid kit available. Doctor/nurse on call – also a relief, considering how adventurous I can be. CCTV in common areas and outside property – a solid layer of security. Fire extinguisher, Smoke alarms, the works. Basically, they’ve thought of everything… except maybe my sanity after I almost locked myself out of my room (more on that in the Room section… sigh).

Dining, Drinking, and Snacking - Ay, la Comida! (Food, Glorious Food!)

Okay, here’s where my heart really sang… and my stomach exploded with happiness. ¡Comida Brasileña! Delicious. Sinful. Unforgettable. The Breakfast [buffet] was legendary. Seriously, legendary. Imagine a table overflowing with fresh fruit (the mangoes!), pastries, pão de queijo (cheese bread-- addictive!), and every kind of coffee imaginable. The Western breakfast was solid, too, but really, embrace the Brazilian experience! They also had Asian breakfast because… Brazil, baby! The world loves it! The Buffet in restaurant was amazing, with a huge array of possibilities with its A la carte in restaurant, alongside Asian cuisine in restaurant, International cuisine in restaurant. There was also a Coffee/tea in restaurant and Coffee shop for all tastes. And the Poolside bar… oh, the poolside bar. They had the most amazing Caipirinhas! Also, Happy hour: a must. The Snack bar was a lifesaver for those mid-afternoon hunger pangs. The Restaurants and Room service [24-hour] were a godsend after a looong travel day. I did try the Vegetarian restaurant, and while it wasn't my favourite, it was still good, and it's there for you if you're into that. The availability of Bottle of water was a nice touch, but I always take my own. They also had a Salad in restaurant, Soup in restaurant, and Desserts in restaurant. They could improve a bit with the Alternative meal arrangement.

Things to Do and Ways to Relax – ¡Relájate, Mujer, Relájate!

This is where Rumo dos Ventos really gets its mojo. They know relaxation. Deep, soul-soothing, "I-don't-wanna-leave" relaxation. They have a Spa with a Sauna, Steamroom, and a Spa/sauna. I’m talking a full-blown experience, and it was incredible. They also had Body scrub and Body wrap. The Pool with view was absolutely breathtaking. I spent hours just floating there, staring up at the sky. And the Swimming pool [outdoor]? Perfecto. The Gym/fitness area was surprisingly well-equipped. Plus, they have a Foot bath: a small detail, but it made a big difference after all that walking. There are many ways of ways to relax. The Massage was… let's just say I almost booked a second one the next day. They could still improve slightly with some of the Fitness center.

The Rooms – My Little Imperfect Paradise

Okay, so the rooms. They're… fine. They're clean, definitely. Daily housekeeping is a lifesaver. They are also Non-smoking rooms, and Soundproof rooms. Air conditioning – yes, thank God. Air conditioning in public area is a must. They have Air conditioning to keep you comfortable. Blackout curtains are a godsend if you're trying to sleep in. Complimentary tea and Coffee/tea maker – a nice touch. Free bottled water. Free Wi-Fi, which is always a big plus. Having a Laptop workspace is great. Satellite/cable channels are also available. They have a Desk and some Lighting as well. Additional toilet is something that you can always appreciate. The Interconnecting room(s) available makes it a great option if you're travelling as a family or with a group. But… and here's the BUT: my room felt a little dated. The decor wasn't exactly "Instagrammable." The Mirror wasn't the best. The Shower… well, let's just say I could barely fit my shoulders. My Private bathroom was nothing to write home about, but it was private. A Sofa is always great if you want to chill. But everything was functional, and the view from my window was stunning. And then there was the lock. The lock tried to defeat me at every turn. I won eventually, but it was a battle I'd rather not have fought.

Services and Conveniences – The Little Things That Matter

Concierge: super helpful, always willing to help with directions, recommendations, and booking tours. Laundry service: saved me after a particularly messy beach day. Luggage storage: always important. Cash withdrawal is a big plus. Currency exchange – handy. They have Doorman. They have a Valet parking that I didn’t use (see my car story below). Car park [free of charge], I wish I had used it. They had Daily housekeeping, and they also had Invoice provided. Ironing service for the wrinkled clothes I packed. The on-site Convenience store was great for grabbing snacks and drinks. Safety deposit boxes and Check-in/out [express] were perfect. Check-in/out [private] made me feel special. They should have more of a Dry cleaning service. They also offer Food delivery.

For the Kids – The Little Monkeys Will Love It!

Family/child friendly! They have Babysitting service and a Kids meal. They really embrace families. This is a great choice if you're travelling with little ones.

Getting Around – ¡Cuidado con el Tráfico!

They have Airport transfer! Absolutely essential. DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT try to drive yourself from the airport. Traffic is… an experience. Seriously. I learned the hard way. I rented a car (bad idea). The parking situation was a nightmare. I spent more time circling the block than I did enjoying the beach. Then I lost my car. Yes, lost it. For a good hour. Luckily, there was a Taxi service.

Internet – Connected to Paradise (Mostly!)

Internet access – wireless. Internet access – LAN in case you need a more stable connection. Free Wi-Fi in all rooms. Wi-Fi in public areas, too. The Internet was decent. Not lightning-fast, but enough to check

Pousada Rumo dos Ventos Brazil

¡Ay, Dios mío! Okay, here's my attempt at a truly human travel itinerary for Pousada Rumo dos Ventos in Brazil. Buckle up, buttercups. This is gonna be… a ride. Prepare to judge me. I'm prepared to judge myself. Let's do this.

Pousada Rumo dos Ventos: Chaos & Calm, Maybe? (A Totally Realistic Itinerary)

Day 1: Arrival & Attempted Chill (Spoiler: It's Never Only Chill)

  • Morning (7:00 AM - 9:00 AM): Flight and transport.
    • Ugh. Woke up WAY too early for that connecting flight. Coffee was a tragic disappointment. Flight attendants are always smiling too much, right? Like they're about to sell me a timeshare.
    • Arrive in Jericoacoara (Jeri). Taxi ride to Pousada Rumo dos Ventos. Praying the driver isn't one of those maniacs. My luggage has a serious grudge. Hopefully, it doesn't explode.
  • Late Morning (9:00 AM - 12:00 PM): Check-in and pretend relaxation.
    • Check-in: Finally! The pousada is as idyllic as the photos. (Okay, maybe slightly more sand in the cracks.)
    • "Relaxing" on the hammock. Fail. Mosquitoes are attacking. Found a cockroach that seemed the size of a small chihuahua. Panicked internal screaming intensifies.
    • Decide I’m going to sit here all day doing absolutely nothing. That's the plan. (Narrator's Voice: The plan will, inevitably, implode.)
  • Afternoon (12:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Food, beach, and the beginnings of a sunburn.
    • Lunch at the pousada's restaurant. Delicious moqueca! Should've ordered two. Spent the whole time watching the tourists walk by, assessing their outfits and sunblock coverage.
    • First steps on Jeri beach. Stunning. Turquoise water, blinding white sand. Feel like I'm in a postcard. Except… the wind. It's relentless! My hair is currently attempting to escape my skull and fly to Argentina. Trying to take a photo. Failed. I’m looking at my photo; the wind is even messing with my phone.
    • Sunburn commencing. Should've listened to the concierge and gone for the SPF 50.
  • Evening (5:00 PM onwards): Sunset & Early Bedtime is an option.
    • Sunset at the Dune. The iconic Jeri sunset! Goosebumps. People applauding. Very cinematic. Got sand EVERYWHERE.
    • Dinner at a local restaurant. Okay, the caipirinhas were strong. Really strong. May or may not have accidentally serenaded a group of Brazilians with a terrible rendition of "Girl From Ipanema". Regret is already setting in.
    • Early bedtime. I'm utterly drained, but also buzzing with a combination of sun, cerveja, and intense shame.

Day 2: Sandboarding & the Eternal Struggle with Balance

  • Morning (8:00 AM - 10:00 AM): Sleep In and Breakfast
    • Woke up late. I should have asked for the alarm clock.
    • Breakfast at the Pousada. Fruits, bread. And the smell of coffee. It’s been the greatest smell of my life.
  • Morning (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Sandboarding! (And humiliation.)
    • The Dune Duas Irmãs. It looked SO easy in the videos. Wrong. So, so wrong.
    • Attempt one: faceplant. Attempt two: more faceplant. Attempt three: sort of got up, wobbled, and then faceplanted gloriously. My ego is currently buried in sand.
    • The sand got everywhere. In my ears, nose, and other places I'd rather not mention.
    • But. The wind. And the sheer absurdity of the whole thing. I laughed until I cried (mostly from the effort).
  • Afternoon (1:00 PM - 6:00 PM): Lunch, wandering and recovery.
    • Lunch: Grilled seafood, because I still haven't learned my lesson.
    • Strolling around the town. Jeri is charming, but I'm starting to realize I'm really not a beach person. Or maybe I'm just too clumsy.
    • Sipping something refreshing on a beach chair while trying to recover from the sandboarding.
  • Evening (6:00 PM - onwards): Pizza & Stargazing.
    • Dinner at a Pizzeria. Pizza after a day of sandboarding is a good choice.
    • Stargazing: Oh, the stars! So many stars! Fell asleep on a beach chair. Woke up covered in sand again. Seriously, this sand is stalking me.

Day 3: Lagoa Azul & the Quest for Hydration

  • Morning (9:00 AM - 10:00 AM): Sleep In and Breakfast.
    • Breakfast, again. The same. And that smell of coffee, again. Heavenly.
  • Mid Morning (10:00 AM - 1:00 PM): Lagoa Azul and the 4x4 adventure.
    • Got the buggy for the Lagoas.
    • Lagoa Azul: The color is insane. The photos don't do it justice. Water so clear you can see the fish swim by..
    • The 4x4 ride there was terrifying and exhilarating. The driver was clearly a stuntman in disguise (and probably has a very large life insurance policy).
    • Spent hours attempting to stay hydrated, and mostly failing.
  • Afternoon (1:00 PM - 5:00 PM): Lagoa do Paraiso.
    • Lagoa do Paraiso. The hammocks! The water! The coconuts! This is the Instagram dream. I might actually want to live here.
    • Attempted to swim. Realized I'm still not great with balance.
    • More sunblock.
  • Evening (5:00 PM - onwards): Dinner and Last Night in Jeri.
    • Dinner at a restaurant on the beach. Some great food again!
    • Last-night feels!

Day 4: Departure (And the Sand-Filled Clothes of Doom)

  • Morning (Any time after 8:00 AM): Wake up, eat breakfast, and say goodbye to Jeri.
  • Morning (9:00 AM - 11:00 AM): Last Brunch and packing.
    • Breakfast one last time.
    • Packing. Found sand everywhere. And I mean everywhere.
    • Final check of the room. Did I leave anything? Yes. Everything.
  • Mid-Day (11:00 AM - 3:00 PM): Transport.
    • Taxi/transfer back to the airport.
    • Departure.

Final Thoughts (aka: Rambling)

  • Jeri is stunning. I probably hate it.
  • The sand is evil.
  • I need a massage (and a psychologist).
  • Brazil is vibrant, delicious, and chaotic.
  • I will never be a beach person.
  • Would I go back? Maybe. After I've recovered and scrubbed the sand out of every crevice of my life.
  • This itinerary serves as a guide, and may not even be followed to the letter. The very essence of Jeri is the unpredictable joy.
  • This itinerary has been created and curated by a human. Do not expect perfection! Embrace the chaos!

“vago” a veces.

Yo me hinché, y ¡no me arrepiento!

¡Preparad repelente! Y, ¡la ducha! ¡A veces, no salía el agua caliente! Pero, ¿sabes? Me reí. ¡Todo es parte de la aventura!
