This is the Real Deal, folks! Let’s rip this apart, shall we?

Accessibility is, well… okay.

Vale, vamos a ser honestos. Accessibility is, well… okay. It's listed, but it feels like the bare minimum. The elevator was a bit creaky – maybe it needed a Welsh song to cheer it up? – and while they say they have facilities for disabled guests, I didn't get to see that much in action. I’m not wheelchair-bound, thank God, but if I were? I’d call ahead and grill them. Seriously. They do have a car power charging station, which is a plus in this EV-obsessed world, and there’s a free car park, that's a relief because parking in these regions it's no picnic.

The Food and Drinks: A Rollercoaster!

  • Dining, drinking, and snacking: The A la carte in restaurant? Sometimes a hit, sometimes a miss. One night, the lamb was divine; the next, it's was a bit… gamey. The Asian breakfast? Intriging, but not quite the Asian cuisine in restaurant the next evening. The Poolside bar… Oh, that Poolside bar! Siéntate, dame un momento. The pool had that view I always dreamed of and they make the best cocktails I’ve had in god knows how long. The Bar… just perfect! The Breakfast [buffet] was a solid, if predictable, offering. Coffee/tea in restaurant was always a welcome refuge from a bad day. The Coffee shop was a saviour! The Desserts in restaurant varied, but some were outstanding. The Happy hour was a must. The International cuisine in restaurant was generally good, but get ready for a flavour adventure. The Restaurants are well done and there are many choices. Room service [24-hour]? A lifesaver after a long day of hiking in the rain. The Salad in restaurant was a welcome, healthy break from all the indulgence. The Snack bar was a must for my trips to the pool. The Soup in restaurant was a taste of heaven. The Vegetarian restaurant was great. The Western breakfast was what I was looking for. The Western cuisine in restaurant was great.
  • Alternative meal arrangement: They do try to accomodate, which I appreciate.

My Personal Paradise: The Spa (Sort Of)

Okay, let’s talk about the Spa/Sauna because this is where things got interesting. Promised myself I’d get a Massage – finally! After a long day of walking. It was…intense. I felt like a pretzel, but oddly, I loved it. The Pool with view was breathtaking. The Sauna was the perfect way to detox after all that delicious food. They have a Steamroom. The Fitness center? Fine, I saw some people using it, but I'm not really a gym rat. And, let’s be honest, I was more interested in the Foot bath (bliss!) and maybe a Body scrub and Body wrap.

Cleanliness and Safety: Were They Obsessed?

Okay, so I noticed the cleanliness, it was borderline obsessive, honestly. Anti-viral cleaning products everywhere. They had Daily disinfection in common areas, no joke. Hand sanitizer everywhere! Rooms sanitized between stays. Professional-grade sanitizing services. Staff trained in safety protocol. I was starting to feel like they were expecting an alien invasion! It felt safe, perhaps overly safe.

The Rooms: Home Away From Home (Mostly)

The Rooms offered Air conditioning, which was essential for a good night's sleep. Bathrobes and Slippers, Bathtub and Separate shower/bathtub. The Coffee/tea maker, I'd be lost withouth it! Daily housekeeping, Hair dryer, High floor, In-room safe box, Ironing facilities, Laptop workspace, Mini bar, Refrigerator, Seating area, Telephone.

Internet: Connected or Cut Off?

  • Internet: Well, I had to get some work done, and… Internet access – wireless was good everywhere! Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! Internet [LAN] was available but I didn't use it much.

Things to Do and Ways to Relax: Beyond the Obvious

  • Things to do: I didn't take advantage of the Audio-visual equipment for special events, or the Business facilities.
  • Ways to relax: Sauna, Spa/sauna, Steamroom, Swimming pool [outdoor].

The Quirks! (The Stuff They Don't Tell You)

  • Rooms sanitized between stays Seriously, the sanitizing was intense.
  • Breakfast in room I felt slightly spoiled.
  • Couple's room Great but I wouldn't know.
  • Desk Not the best but it was bearable.
  • Doctor/nurse on call which is a nice touch.

¡Dios mío, here we go! My Tafarn Y Rhos itinerary… more like a suggestion with built-in disasters, you know? Buckle up, buttercups, because this ain't your grandma's perfectly curated brochure.

TAFARN Y RHOS: A Welsh Adventure (or, How I Almost Got Eaten by a Sheep)

(Day 1: Arrival & Mild Panic)

  • 14:00 - Arrive at Tafarn Y Rhos (hopefully). Okay, so the satnav lady, bless her robotic heart, led me on a detour involving a road that looked suspiciously like a goat path. Nearly lost the rental car (a tiny Fiesta - she should be named Fiona) to the abyss. Finally, finally, I see the charmingly wonky sign. Success!
  • 14:30 - Check-in (and immediately assess the room). "Cozy" is the official word. My internal monologue leans towards "charming, if you like the feeling of a bygone era mixed with a hint of damp." But the view… oh, the view! Rolling green hills, sheep looking judgmental. Forget my problems. At least for a moment.
  • 15:00 - Tea Time (and the GREAT CRUMPET CRISIS). Ordered tea. And a crumpet. I love crumpets! However, the crumpet came out, slightly overdone, or like I made myself, well, the crumpets were a disappointment.
  • 16:00 - Afternoon Stroll (and the near-death experience by sheep). Decided to explore. Got ambitious. Ended up on a "public footpath" that felt less "path" and more "aggressive sheep pasture." Sheep. Everywhere. One particularly large, woolly brute eyeballed me with an intensity that suggested a hidden agenda. I'm pretty sure I heard him mutter something about "tourist sandwiches." I retreated. Quickly.
  • 18:00 - Pub Dinner at Tafarn Y Rhos. Apparently, they have an amazing chef. Apparently. I ordered the lamb shank (when in Wales, yeah?). The lamb was heavenly. The mashed potatoes were perfection. The red wine? Downright dangerous. I'm judging the rest by the good drink.

(Day 2: Welsh Charm & the Mystery of the Missing Scone)

  • 09:00 - Breakfast (the breakfast of champions, or at least, of someone who survived the sheep). Full Welsh breakfast. I devoured everything. Except the "black pudding," which, let's be honest, looked a bit… mysterious. Felt like I needed to recover from the night before.
  • 10:00 - Explore the surrounding village (and the relentless charm). Wandered around the village. The post office is adorable. Everyone is so ridiculously polite. And the houses… well, they're straight out of a storybook. I bought a postcard, but I'm not sure if I'll ever send it.
  • 12:00 - Lunch at the cafe (and the scone saga). Had tea and a scone. The scone? Vanished! I'm not sure what happened, but the scones didn't live up to my expectations.
  • 14:00 - Drive to the coast (and the dramatic scenery). The coast is epic. The beaches are vast and windswept. The sea? So many colours of blue and green. Took a million photos. Will it look as good when I get home? Probably not. But, memories, yo!
  • 17:00 - Back to Tafarn Y Rhos for a well-deserved pint (and a good cry). A pint of local ale always helps. Sitting in the bar and just letting it all sink in, the good the bad, the ugly. I made a mess of my trip, but that's kind of the point. That is my style.

(Day 3: Departure & Future Welsh Fantasies)

  • 09:00 - Breakfast (and a silent goodbye to the sheep). Same breakfast. Less black pudding. Tried to make eye contact with the sheep from the dining room window. They just looked at me.
  • 10:00 - Final wander around the grounds (and a futile attempt to photograph the perfect sunset). The gardens are lovely. Tried to capture the feeling, the peace… but, my photography skills remain to be desired. So, I settle for a mental capture.
  • 11:00 - Check-out, with a heavy heart (and a longing look back at the lamb shanks). Seriously, those lamb shanks… I'm going to dream about them.
  • Departure (and the promise to return!). Drove away, already planning my return. Gotta learn to speak Welsh. Must conquer those sheep. And, maybe, just maybe, find the perfect scone!

¡A ver, a ver!

¡puf! Mágico. En resumen, ¿paraíso? No sé.

¡Casi me quedo atascado!

No podía resistirme. ¿verdad?

¿Qué tipo de cerveza tienen? ¿Hay variedad? Soy un poco… exigente.

Exigente, eh? ¡Me gusta!

Pregunta.

¿Me voy a arruinar? (Soy estudiante, ¿vale?)

¡Tranquilo!

¿Puedo quedarme a dormir?

¡Uy!
